I’ve been a Traditional Signwriter since sometime in ’87. I've managed to weather the dark days of computer generated rubbish that’s infested our fine cities and towns for the last 3 decades!
After making it up for a year or so I decided it would be a good idea to learn how to do it properly. So I embarked on a City & Guilds course for two years which I passed with distinctions. However I'm still learning and I'm always trying out new things. A lot of which I pick up from the now strong community of signwriters around the country.
In the passing years I’ve painted everything from massive stuff like Fairground Rides and Steam Engines to House Signs, Bicycles, Vintage Vehicles & Motorbikes, Shopfronts & Glass Gilding..... infact there’s not much I haven't lettered. The company moto is “If it’ll stay still, I’ll paint it!”
The noble art of Signwriting is now enjoying some what of a renaissance. The discerning British folks have seen the light again and are now supporting their local Signwriter. A direct result of this is our High Streets are becoming more interesting, individual and unique. Walk down any of them and you’ll notice that hand painted signs are appearing more & more. You'll probably also notice the hand painted signs are the ones that stand out from the rest.
It's very important to remember your sign will be the first point of contact that many people will get of your business.... So get it right! Use someone with experience and a strong background in design.
A good sign says more about your business than almost anything else!

As I have no unnecessary overheads and don't use expensive industrial machinery or software, therefore it may not be as costly as you think. Infact a hand painted facia can be very cost effective!
